President Donald Trump told the American people time and again on the campaign trail just how important it was that a Republican choose the next Supreme Court justice, and the president’s supporters are already seeing the benefits of his selection.
President Trump knew that a conservative voice on the Supreme Court would be paramount in order to maintain the body’s balance of power, and luckily the American people agreed with his vision for a truly fair and balanced Supreme Court.
They knew America would be doomed without a Supreme Court that upholds the values of our Constitution as it was written by the Founding Fathers.
Little did those voters know how soon the president’s newest appointee for the Supreme Court would be needed, as a recent decision was handed down regarding the teaching of Islam in the United States’ public school system.
The fact that this dramatic and critical decision was being made behind closed doors and outside the public eye speaks volumes, but thankfully Justice Neil Gorsuch stepped in to thwart the clear affront to our Constitution.
The move to include Islam, Shariah law or any other ideology that undermines or contradicts our nation’s values was struck down by Gorsuch’s single defeating vote.
Gorsuch wrote of the 5-4 decision that “the government certainly has no business being involved in religion,” but specifying that the issue at hand is neither a government nor religious issue.
“This is about the judicial branch interpreting the laws as they apply to the teaching of religion,” Gorsuch went on. “And we certainly shouldn’t be filling the children with lies about Islam being a ‘religion of peace’ when they see the carnage on the news almost every day.”
