Many people have been misled by the liberal media’s rebranding of illegal immigration. Hopefully, you’re not one of them.
They may want us to call it “undocumented immigration,” but what they forget is that illegal immigration is still, you know, illegal. And people who immigrate illegally are, you know, criminals, breaking our nation’s laws.
Maybe it was this confusion created by the liberal media that led to the swift and immediate deportation of two illegal immigrants who simply strolled into an Immigration and Customs Enforcement office!
The Washington Post reported that Lizandro Claros Saravia and his older brother Diego walked into an ICE office last week for a regular check-in, during which one of the young men announced to the officers that he would soon be attending college on a soccer scholarship.
The young man had no idea that saying this to the ICE officers would incriminate him for planning to stay in the United States beyond the expiration of his visa. He had had already received his final order of removal from the United States, and his message showed clear intent to disobey it.
The two were immediately deported back to El Salvador Wednesday after the soccer star admitted their intentions the authorities. The Saravias’ lawyers said that the two young men were deported more quickly than he’d ever seen before.
“The ICE agents told me they were deporting the kids because Lizandro got into college,” said Nick Katz, the senior manager of legal services at CASA de Maryland, according to The Washington Post. “That showed they intended to stay in the U.S.”
The ICE had a different story to tell, however.
“They were issued a final order of removal by an immigration judge in 2012,” said Matthew Bourke, ICE spokesman. “That’s why they were removed.”
Despite the brothers’ obvious motives to break U.S. immigration laws, the usual liberal protests and accusations were made.
The young men’s mother Lucia Saravia said in a press conference that the agents have “separated” her family.
“We were together, and we were very happy,” she said.
Fortunately for the rest of us, it’s not the government’s job to make criminals happy.
