President Donald Trump is known for keeping plenty of advisers at his disposal to make sure he gets all the information necessary, and one adviser had some special words for him this week.
President Trump currently finds himself at the center of the United States’ long-standing feud with North Korea, and the rhetoric and tension has been kicked up a notch in the past week as Trump threatened the communist regime with “fire and fury.”
Responses to the president’s intimidation and threats have been mixed, but President Trump’s evangelical adviser reportedly made it clear that the commander-in-chief has “God’s authority” to engage the ruthless North Korean dictator.
The strong words came from Texas megachurch pastor Robert Jeffress in a statement, which added that, “when it comes to how we should deal with evil doers, the Bible… is very clear.”
“God,” the statement read, “has endowed rulers full power to use whatever means necessary – including war – to stop evil.”
More specifically, Pastor Jeffress singled out the current standoff between North Korea and the United States.
“In the case of North Korea,” Jeffress said, “God has given Trump authority to take out Kim Jong-Un.”
Pastor Jeffress campaigned for President Trump and held a church service at his inauguration, and he released his latest statement via the Christian Broadcasting Network.
According to the statement, Jeffress is “heartened” that President Trump is taking a more aggressive approach than the previous administration, which he described as “sheepish.”
The Texas pastor is also famous for saying previously that former President Barack Obama was preparing the way for the Antichrist, and he lauded President Trump for ending the “demonization” of Christianity in the United States under President Obama.
